Getting piano students to practice is one of the easiest things to complain about. However, each time I complain, I feel a twinge of guilt because I was totally that kid who didn’t love practicing. In fact, when my mom made the rule that I couldn’t touch the piano to “play around” until after I practiced, I hated practicing so much that I would forfeit the pleasure of touching the piano at all. Thankfully, I got through that rough patch of practice hatred. I can’t give you an easy solution to get your piano students to love practicing piano; however, I do have some tips for you on how to teach your students to practice.
